Each project we undertake (unless it involves no structural work or modification at all) has the foundation and structural systems designed by a licensed engineer who specializes in the engineering of residential structures.  A house is a complex structure of many parts that is ultimately built by human hands with natural materials that react to moisture and natural forces.  The structure sits on soil that, by its very nature, moves and shifts due to weather and moisture conditions.  Therefore, the house will always have the potential to move along with the shrinking, swelling and movement of the soil and other natural forces.  But a well-detailed and well-engineered plan, if followed in construction, helps to mitigate potential problems and delays during the construction of the house, and problems in the home’s structural performance after the home is completed.  This translates to fewer callbacks for the builder and fewer future repairs for the homeowner.
